Rabbit anti-Human ALKBH2 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against ALKBH2 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-261 of human ALKBH2 (NP_001138847.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Uniprot IDQ6NS38Immunogen Sequence
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q6NS38

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ALKBH2

  • Target Full Name

    DNA oxidative demethylase ALKBH2

  • Target Function

Dioxygenase that repairs alkylated DNA and RNA containing 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine by oxidative demethylation. Can also repair alkylated DNA containing 1-ethenoadenine (in vitro). Has strong preference for double-stranded DNA. Has low efficiency with single-stranded substrates. Requires molecular oxygen, alpha-ketoglutarate and iron.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Nucleus. Note=Detected in replication foci during S-phase.

  • Target Protein Families

    AlkB family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Detected in colon, small intestine, ovary, testis, prostate, skeletal muscle, heart, liver and urinary bladder.

  • Target Research Area

    Epigenetics and Nuclear Signaling

  • Target Synonyms

    2OG Fe(II) oxy DC1; 9530023G02 ; ABH 2; ABH2; alkB alkylation repair homolog 2; ALKB2_HUMAN; ALKBH2 alkB; ALKBH2; Alkylated DNA repair protein alkB homolog ; Alkylated DNA repair protein alkB homolog 2; Alkylation repair homolog 2; Alpha ketoglutarate dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 2; Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 2; AU016977; DNA oxidative demethylase ALKBH2; EC 1.14.11.; FLJ99103; hABH2; mABH2; MGC90512 ; Oxy DC1

  • Target Background

The Escherichia coli AlkB protein protects against the cytotoxicity of methylating agents by repair of the specific DNA lesions generated in single-stranded DNA. ALKBH2 and ALKBH3 (MIM 610603) are E. coli AlkB homologs that catalyze the removal of 1-methyladenine and 3-methylcytosine (Duncan et al., 2002 [PubMed 12486230]).
