Rabbit anti-Human mGluR2 Monoclonal Antibody

The antibody against mGluR2 was raised in Rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 773-872 of human mGluR2 (Q14416) as the immunogen. The monoclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IF/ICC, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q14416

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    GRM2

  • Target Full Name

    Metabotropic glutamate receptor 2

  • Target Function

G-protein coupled receptor for glutamate. Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of down-stream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase. Signaling inhibits adenylate cyclase activity. May mediate suppression of neurotransmission or may be involved in synaptogenesis or synaptic stabilization.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction, synapse. Cell projection, dendrite.

  • Target Protein Families

    G-protein coupled receptor 3 family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Detected in brain cortex (at protein level). Widely expressed in different regions of the adult brain as well as in fetal brain.

  • Target Synonyms

    AMPA selective glutamate receptor 2; GLUR2; GLURB; Glutamate metabotropic receptor 2; Glutamate receptor homolog; Glutamate receptor metabotropic 2; GPRC1B; GRM2; GRM2_HUMAN; Metabotropic glutamate receptor 2; mGlu2; mGluR2; OTTHUMP00000210984; OTTHUMP00000210986

  • Target Background

L-glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in most aspects of normal brain function and can be perturbed in many neuropathologic conditions. The metabotropic glutamate receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors, that have been divided into 3 groups on the basis of sequence homology, putative signal transduction mechanisms, and pharmacologic properties. Group I includes GRM1 and GRM5 and these receptors have been shown to activate phospholipase C. Group II includes GRM2 and GRM3 while Group III includes GRM4, GRM6, GRM7 and GRM8. Group II and III receptors are linked to the inhibition of the cyclic AMP cascade but differ in their agonist selectivities. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
