E.coli-expressed Desmoglein-3/DSG3 CSB-EP007205HU is a recombinant fusion protein of partial DSG3 coupled to a 6xHis-SUMO-tag at the N-terminus. This protein consists of the extracellular domain (50-615aa) of human DSG3 and has a calculated molecular weight of 79.0 kDa. Its identity was validated by the LC-MS/MS analysis. The SDS-PAGE showed an about 90 kDa molecular mass of this protein and determines the purity of over 90%. In-stock DSG3 proteins are offered now. This recombinant DSG3 protein may find uses in the anti-DSG3 antibody production or the studies of cell adhesion. DSG3 is an adhesion protein in desmosomes. It plays a regulatory role in various signaling pathways that facilitate cell adhesion, differentiation, proliferation, morphogenesis, and migration. In Pemphigus Vulgaris (PV), DSG3 is down-regulated and serves as a major Pemphigus Vulgaris antigen (PVA) for auto-antibodies, disrupting cell-cell cohesion and pemphigus acantholysis in Dsg3-expressing tissues. While DSG3 is up-regulated in some types of cancer and is involved in tumor progression and metastasis.

Target Background
This gene encodes a member of the desmoglein family and cadherin cell adhesion molecule superfamily of proteins. Desmogleins are calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein components of desmosomes, cell-cell junctions between epithelial, myocardial, and other cell types. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature glycoprotein. This gene is present in a gene cluster with other desmoglein gene family members on chromosome 18. The encoded protein has been identified as the autoantigen of the autoimmune blistering disease pemphigus vulgaris.
