The antibody against KRT10 was raised in Rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 350-460 of human KRT10 (NP_000412.3) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Target Name
KRT10
Target Full Name
Keratin, type I cytoskeletal 10
Target Function
Plays a role in the establishment of the epidermal barrier on plantar skin.; (Microbial infection) Acts as a mediator of S.aureus adherence to desquamated nasal epithelial cells via clfB, and hence may play a role in nasal colonization.; (Microbial infection) Binds S.pneumoniae PsrP, mediating adherence of the bacteria to lung cell lines. Reduction of levels of KRT10 keratin decrease adherence, overexpression increases adherence. Neither protein has to be glycosylated for the interaction to occur.
Target Involvement
Epidermolytic hyperkeratosis (EHK); Ichthyosis annular epidermolytic (AEI); Erythroderma, ichthyosiform, congenital reticular (CRIE)
Target Subcellular Location
Secreted, extracellular space. Cell surface.
Target Protein Families
Intermediate filament family
Target Tissue Specificity
Seen in all suprabasal cell layers including stratum corneum. Expressed on the surface of lung cell lines.
Target Research Area
Signal Transduction

Target Background
This gene encodes a member of the type I (acidic) cytokeratin family, which belongs to the superfamily of intermediate filament (IF) proteins. Keratins are heteropolymeric structural proteins which form the intermediate filament. These filaments, along with actin microfilaments and microtubules, compose the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. Mutations in this gene are associated with epidermolytic hyperkeratosis. This gene is located within a cluster of keratin family members on chromosome 17q21.
