Immunogen SequenceComplete sequences for the immunogen, target protein, and peptides are available upon request.Uniprot IDP28289
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P28289

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    TMOD1

  • Target Full Name

    Tropomodulin-1

  • Target Function

Blocks the elongation and depolymerization of the actin filaments at the pointed end. The Tmod/TM complex contributes to the formation of the short actin protofilament, which in turn defines the geometry of the membrane skeleton. May play an important role in regulating the organization of actin filaments by preferentially binding to a specific tropomyosin isoform at its N-terminus.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton.

  • Target Protein Families

    Tropomodulin family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Highly expressed in the erythrocyte, heart and skeletal muscle.

  • Target Research Area

    others

  • Target Synonyms

    D9S57E; E Tmod ; E tropomodulin; E-Tmod; Erythrocyte tropomodulin; ETMOD; MGC124125; MGC124126; OTTHUMP00000021743 ; TMOD; Tmod1; TMOD1 protein; TMOD1_HUMAN; Tropomodulin 1; Tropomodulin-1

  • Target Background

This gene encodes a member of the tropomodulin family. The encoded protein is an actin-capping protein that regulates tropomyosin by binding to its N-terminus, inhibiting depolymerization and elongation of the pointed end of actin filaments and thereby influencing the structure of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
