Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q86TU7

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    SETD3

  • Target Full Name

    Actin-histidine N-methyltransferase

  • Target Function

Protein-histidine N-methyltransferase that specifically mediates 3-methylhistidine (tele-methylhistidine) methylation of actin at 'His-73'. Histidine methylation of actin is required for smooth muscle contraction of the laboring uterus during delivery. Does not have protein-lysine N-methyltransferase activity and probably only catalyzes histidine methylation of actin.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm. Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

Class V-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily, Histone-lysine methyltransferase family, SETD3 subfamily

  • Target Synonyms

    C14orf154; Chromosome 14 open reading frame 154 ; DKFZp761E1415; FLJ23027; Histone lysine N methyltransferase setd3; Histone-lysine N-methyltransferase setd3; MGC87236; SET domain containing 3; SET domain containing protein 3; SET domain-containing protein 3; SETD 3; Setd3; SETD3_HUMAN

  • Target Background

Enables protein-L-histidine N-tele-methyltransferase activity. Involved in actin modification and peptidyl-histidine methylation. Located in cytoplasm.
