Recombinant Human SRXN1 protein expression is initiated by transfecting e.coli cells with a DNA expression vector containing the gene encoding the protein of interest (1-137aa). The subsequent culturing of the cells induces the expression of the desired protein. The protein is equipped with a N-terminal 10xHis tag and C-terminal Myc tag. The resulting recombinant Human SRXN1 protein is collected and purified from the cell lysate through affinity purification, demonstrating a purity greater than 90%, as indicated by SDS-PAGE.

Target Name
SRXN1
Target Full Name
Sulfiredoxin-1
Target Function
Contributes to oxidative stress resistance by reducing cysteine-sulfinic acid formed under exposure to oxidants in the peroxiredoxins PRDX1, PRDX2, PRDX3 and PRDX4. Does not act on PRDX5 or PRDX6. May catalyze the reduction in a multi-step process by acting both as a specific phosphotransferase and a thioltransferase.
Target Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Target Protein Families
Sulfiredoxin family
Target Tissue Specificity
Widely expressed with highest levels in kidney, lung, spleen and thymus.
Target Research Area
Cell Biology
Target Synonyms
SRXN1; C20orf139; SRX; SRX1; Sulfiredoxin-1; EC 1.8.98.2
