Rabbit anti-Human Glycerol kinase (GK) Monoclonal Antibody

The antibody against Glycerol kinase (GK) was raised in Rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 450-559 of human Glycerol kinase (GK) (P32189) as the immunogen. The monoclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IHC-P, ELISA.

  • Uniprot Id

    P32189

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    GK

  • Target Full Name

    Glycerol kinase

  • Target Function

Key enzyme in the regulation of glycerol uptake and metabolism.

  • Target Involvement

    Glycerol kinase deficiency (GKD)

  • Target Subcellular Location

Mitochondrion outer membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Cytoplasm. Note=In sperm and fetal tissues, the majority of the enzyme is bound to mitochondria, but in adult tissues, such as liver found in the cytoplasm.

  • Target Protein Families

    FGGY kinase family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Highly expressed in the liver, kidney and testis. Isoform 2 and isoform 3 are expressed specifically in testis and fetal liver, but not in the adult liver.

  • Target Synonyms

    ATP glycerol 3 phosphotransferase; ATP:glycerol 3 phosphotransferase; ATP:glycerol 3-phosphotransferase; D930012N15Rik; GK; GK1; GKD; GLPK_HUMAN; Glycerokinase; Glycerol kinase; OTTHUMP00000023108; OTTHUMP00000023109; OTTHUMP00000215321

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the FGGY kinase family. This protein is a key enzyme in the regulation of glycerol uptake and metabolism. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of glycerol by ATP, yielding ADP and glycerol-3-phosphate. Mutations in this gene are associated with glycerol kinase deficiency (GKD). Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
