Recombinant Human UDP-N-acetylhexosamine pyrophosphorylase (UAP1)

The recombinant Human UAP1 protein production in Yeast cells involves the integration of a DNA fragment encoding the Human UAP1 protein (1-522aa) into a plasmid vector, which is then introduced into Yeast cells. Following screening, positive cells are cultured and induced to synthesize the UAP1 protein. A N-terminal 6xHis tag is attached to the protein. Cell lysis is carried out to harvest the recombinant Human UAP1 protein, which is purified through affinity purification and then analyzed using SDS-PAGE and subsequent staining of the gel with Coomassie Brilliant Blue. The purity of the resulting recombinant Human UAP1 protein reaches over 90%.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q16222

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    UAP1

  • Target Full Name

    UDP-N-acetylhexosamine pyrophosphorylase

  • Target Function

Converts UTP and GlcNAc-1-P into UDP-GlcNAc, and UTP and GalNAc-1-P into UDP-GalNAc. Isoform AGX1 has 2 to 3 times higher activity towards GalNAc-1-P, while isoform AGX2 has 8 times more activity towards GlcNAc-1-P.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Cytoplasm. Note=In spermatozoa, localized to the principal piece of the tail, the neck region of the head and to a lesser extent, the midpiece of the tail.

  • Target Protein Families

    UDPGP type 1 family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Widely expressed. Isoform AGX1 is more abundant in testis than isoform AGX2, while isoform AGX2 is more abundant than isoform AGX1 in somatic tissue. Expressed at low level in placenta, muscle and liver.

  • Target Research Area

    Signal Transduction

  • Target Synonyms

    AGX 1; AGX; AGX-1; AGX-2; AGX1; Antigen X; AntigenX; SPAG 2; SPAG2; Sperm associated antigen 2; Sperm-associated antigen 2; UAP 1; uap1; UAP1_HUMAN; UDP N acetylhexosamine pyrophosphorylase; UDP N acteylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase 1; UDP-N-acetylglucosamine pyrophosphorylase

  • Target Background

Enables identical protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in UDP-N-acetylglucosamine biosynthetic process. Located in cytosol; nucleoplasm; and plasma membrane.
