Rabbit anti-Human SS18 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against SS18 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-240 of human SS18 (NP_001007560.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IHC-P, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q15532

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    SS18

  • Target Full Name

    Protein SSXT

  • Target Function

Appears to function synergistically with RBM14 as a transcriptional coactivator. Isoform 1 and isoform 2 function in nuclear receptor coactivation. Isoform 1 and isoform 2 function in general transcriptional coactivation. Component of SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling subcomplex GBAF that carries out key enzymatic activities, changing chromatin structure by altering DNA-histone contacts within a nucleosome in an ATP-dependent manner.

  • Target Involvement

A chromosomal aberration involving SS18 may be a cause of synovial sarcoma. Translocation t(X;18)(p11.2;q11.2). The translocation is specifically found in more than 80% of synovial sarcoma. The fusion products SSXT-SSX1 or SSXT-SSX2 are probably responsible for transforming activity. Heterogeneity in the position of the breakpoint can occur (low frequency).

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

    SS18 family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Fairly ubiquitously expressed. Expressed in synovial sarcomas and in other human cell lines. The fusion genes SSXT-SSX1 and SSXT-SSX2 are expressed only in synovial sarcomas.

  • Target Synonyms

MGC116875; Protein SSXT; Protein SYT; SS18; SSXT; SSXT/SSX4v fusion ; SSXT_HUMAN; Synovial sarcoma translocated to X chromosome; Synovial sarcoma translocated to X chromosome protein; Synovial sarcoma translocation chromosome 18; SYT; SYT SSX1; SYT SSX2; SYT/SSX4v fusion protein; SYTSSX1; SYTSSX2

  • Target Background

Enables nuclear receptor coactivator activity. Involved in positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Part of SWI/SNF complex. Implicated in synovial sarcoma.
