The antibody against FUT2 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 29-150 of human FUT2 (NP_001091107.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Target Name
FUT2
Target Full Name
Galactoside alpha-(1,2)-fucosyltransferase 2
Target Function
Catalyzes the transfer of L-fucose, from a guanosine diphosphate-beta-L-fucose, to the terminal galactose on both O- and N-linked glycans chains of cell surface glycoproteins and glycolipids and the resulting epitope regulates several processes such as cell-cell interaction including host-microbe interaction, cell surface expression and cell proliferation. Preferentially fucosylates gangliosides GA1 and GM1 in the antrum, cecum and colon and in the female reproductive organs. Fucosylated host glycoproteins or glycolipids mediate interaction with intestinal microbiota influencing its composition. Creates a soluble precursor oligosaccharide FuC-alpha ((1,2)Galbeta-) called the H antigen which is an essential substrate for the final step in the soluble ABO blood group antigen synthesis pathway.
Target Subcellular Location
Golgi apparatus, Golgi stack membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein. Note=Membrane-bound form in trans cisternae of Golgi.
Target Protein Families
Glycosyltransferase 11 family
Target Tissue Specificity
Small intestine, colon and lung.

Target Background
This gene is one of two encoding the galactoside 2-L-fucosyltransferase enzyme. The encoded protein is important for the final step in the soluble ABO blood group antigen synthesis pathway. It is also involved in cell-cell interaction, cell surface expression, and cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene are a cause of the H-Bombay blood group where red blood cells lack the H antigen.
