Rabbit anti-Human ALKBH8 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against ALKBH8 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-230 of human ALKBH8 (NP_620130.2) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IHC-P, ELISA.

Uniprot IDQ96BT7Immunogen Sequence
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q96BT7

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ALKBH8

  • Target Full Name

    tRNA (carboxymethyluridine(34)-5-O)-methyltransferase ALKBH8

  • Target Function

Catalyzes the methylation of 5-carboxymethyl uridine to 5-methylcarboxymethyl uridine at the wobble position of the anticodon loop in tRNA via its methyltransferase domain. Catalyzes the last step in the formation of 5-methylcarboxymethyl uridine at the wobble position of the anticodon loop in target tRNA. Has a preference for tRNA(Arg) and tRNA(Glu), and does not bind tRNA(Lys)(PubMed:20308323). Binds tRNA and catalyzes the iron and alpha-ketoglutarate dependent hydroxylation of 5-methylcarboxymethyl uridine at the wobble position of the anticodon loop in tRNA via its dioxygenase domain, giving rise to 5-(S)-methoxycarbonylhydroxymethyluridine; has a preference for tRNA(Gly). Required for normal survival after DNA damage. May inhibit apoptosis and promote cell survival and angiogenesis.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm. Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

    AlkB family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Widely expressed, with highest expression in spleen, followed by pancreas and lung.

  • Target Synonyms

  • Target Background

Enables tRNA (uracil) methyltransferase activity; tRNA binding activity; and zinc ion binding activity. Involved in cellular response to DNA damage stimulus; tRNA methylation; and tRNA wobble uridine modification. Located in cytosol and nuclear body. Implicated in autosomal recessive non-syndromic intellectual disability.
