Rabbit anti-Human GLS2 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against GLS2 was raised in Rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 545-602 of human GLS2 (NP_037399.2) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IF/ICC, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9UI32

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    GLS2

  • Target Full Name

    Glutaminase liver isoform, mitochondrial

  • Target Function

Plays an important role in the regulation of glutamine catabolism. Promotes mitochondrial respiration and increases ATP generation in cells by catalyzing the synthesis of glutamate and alpha-ketoglutarate. Increases cellular anti-oxidant function via NADH and glutathione production. May play a role in preventing tumor proliferation.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Mitochondrion.

  • Target Protein Families

    Glutaminase family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Highly expressed in liver. Expressed in brain and pancreas. Not observed in heart, placenta, lung, skeletal muscle and kidney. Expression is significantly reduced in hepatocellular carcinomas.

  • Target Research Area

    Metabolism

  • Target Synonyms

breast cell glutaminase; GA; GLS; Gls2; GLSL_HUMAN; glutaminase 2 (liver mitochondrial); glutaminase 2; glutaminase GA; glutaminase I; Glutaminase liver isoform; Glutaminase liver isoform; mitochondrial; hLGA; L glutaminase; L glutamine amidohydrolase; L-glutaminase; L-glutamine amidohydrolase; LGA; mitochondrial; phosphate activated glutaminase; phosphate-dependent glutaminase

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a mitochondrial phosphate-activated glutaminase that catalyzes the hydrolysis of glutamine to stoichiometric amounts of glutamate and ammonia. Originally thought to be liver-specific, this protein has been found in other tissues as well. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode different isoforms.
