Target Name
FUT4
Target Full Name
Alpha-(1,3)-fucosyltransferase 4
Target Function
May catalyze alpha-1,3 glycosidic linkages involved in the expression of Lewis X/SSEA-1 and VIM-2 antigens.
Target Subcellular Location
Golgi apparatus, Golgi stack membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein. Note=Membrane-bound form in trans cisternae of Golgi.
Target Protein Families
Glycosyltransferase 10 family
Target Synonyms
3)-fucosyltransferase; Alpha-(1; Alpha-(1,3)-fucosyltransferase; Alpha-3-fucosyltransferase; ELAM-1 ligand fucosyltransferase; ELFT; FCT3A; Fuc-TIV; Fucosyltransferase 4 (Alpha (1,3) Fucosyltransferase, Myeloid-Specific; Fucosyltransferase 4; Fucosyltransferase IV; FucT-IV; Fut4; FUT4_HUMAN; FUTIV; Galactoside 3-L-fucosyltransferase; Lewis X; LeX; SSEA-1; Stage-Specific Embryonic Antigen 1
Target Background
The product of this gene transfers fucose to N-acetyllactosamine polysaccharides to generate fucosylated carbohydrate structures. It catalyzes the synthesis of the non-sialylated antigen, Lewis x (CD15).
