The preparation of the recombinant Human RXFP2 protein involves manipulating the expression of the desired gene in e.coli cells. The sequence (33-158aa) of foreign DNA is fused to an expression vector and then introduced into e.coli cells. Selected positive cells are cultured to induce the expression of the desired protein. The protein features a N-terminal 10xHis tag and C-terminal Myc tag fusion. The recombinant targeted protein is subjected to affinity purification. Its purity exceeds 90% as assessed by SDS-PAGE.

Target Name
RXFP2
Target Full Name
Relaxin receptor 2
Target Function
Receptor for relaxin. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins leading to stimulation of adenylate cyclase and an increase of cAMP. May also be a receptor for Leydig insulin-like peptide (INSL3).
Target Involvement
Cryptorchidism (CRYPTO)
Target Subcellular Location
Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Target Protein Families
G-protein coupled receptor 1 family
Target Tissue Specificity
Expressed mainly in the brain, kidney, muscle, testis, thyroid, uterus, peripheral blood cells and bone marrow.
Target Research Area
Others
Target Synonyms
RXFP2; GPR106; GREAT; LGR8; Relaxin receptor 2; G-protein coupled receptor 106; G-protein coupled receptor affecting testicular descent; Leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 8; Relaxin family peptide receptor 2
Target Background
This gene encodes a member of the GPCR (G protein-coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor) family. Mutations in this gene are associated with cryptorchidism. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
