Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    O75093

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    SLIT1

  • Target Full Name

    Slit homolog 1 protein

  • Target Function

Thought to act as molecular guidance cue in cellular migration, and function appears to be mediated by interaction with roundabout homolog receptors. During neural development involved in axonal navigation at the ventral midline of the neural tube and projection of axons to different regions. SLIT1 and SLIT2 together seem to be essential for midline guidance in the forebrain by acting as repulsive signal preventing inappropriate midline crossing by axons projecting from the olfactory bulb.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Secreted.

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Predominantly expressed in adult forebrain. Expressed in fetal brain, lung and kidney.

  • Target Synonyms

    KIAA0813; MEGF 4; MEGF4; MGC164811; Multiple EGF-like domains protein 4; Multiple epidermal growth factor like domains 4; Multiple epidermal growth factor-like domains protein 4; OTTHUMP00000059392; SLIL 1; SLIL1; Slit 1; SLIT 3; Slit homolog 1; Slit homolog 1 protein; Slit-1; Slit1; SLIT1_HUMAN; SLIT3

  • Target Background

Enables Roundabout binding activity. Involved in axon extension involved in axon guidance; motor neuron axon guidance; and negative chemotaxis. Predicted to be located in extracellular region. Predicted to be active in extracellular space.
