The recombinant Human TMOD1 protein is produced by constructing the recombinant plasmid encoding the Human TMOD1 protein (1-359aa), transforming recombinant plasmid into e.coli cells, screening the positive e.coli cells and culturing them, and inducing the protein expression. The protein is equipped with a N-terminal GST tag. Following expression, the recombinant TMOD1 protein is isolated and purified from the cell lysate using affinity purification. Denaturing SDS-PAGE is then employed to resolve the resulting recombinant Human TMOD1 protein. Its purity is greater than 90%.

Target Name
TMOD1
Target Full Name
Tropomodulin-1
Target Function
Blocks the elongation and depolymerization of the actin filaments at the pointed end. The Tmod/TM complex contributes to the formation of the short actin protofilament, which in turn defines the geometry of the membrane skeleton. May play an important role in regulating the organization of actin filaments by preferentially binding to a specific tropomyosin isoform at its N-terminus.
Target Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton.
Target Protein Families
Tropomodulin family
Target Tissue Specificity
Highly expressed in the erythrocyte, heart and skeletal muscle.
Target Research Area

Target Background
This gene encodes a member of the tropomodulin family. The encoded protein is an actin-capping protein that regulates tropomyosin by binding to its N-terminus, inhibiting depolymerization and elongation of the pointed end of actin filaments and thereby influencing the structure of the erythrocyte membrane skeleton. Multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
