Rabbit anti-Human Xanthine Oxidase (XDH) Monoclonal Antibody

The antibody against Xanthine Oxidase (XDH) was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 202-293 of human Xanthine Oxidase (XDH) (P47989) as the immunogen. The monoclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IHC-P, IF/ICC, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P47989

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    XDH

  • Target Full Name

    Xanthine dehydrogenase/oxidase

  • Target Function

Key enzyme in purine degradation. Catalyzes the oxidation of hypoxanthine to xanthine. Catalyzes the oxidation of xanthine to uric acid. Contributes to the generation of reactive oxygen species. Has also low oxidase activity towards aldehydes (in vitro).

  • Target Involvement

    Xanthinuria 1 (XAN1)

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm. Peroxisome. Secreted.

  • Target Protein Families

    Xanthine dehydrogenase family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Detected in milk (at protein level).

  • Target Synonyms

Xanthine dehydrogenase; Xanthine dehydrogenase/oxidase; Xanthine oxidase; Xanthine oxidoreductase; XD; XDH; XDH_HUMAN; xdha; XO; xor

  • Target Background

Xanthine dehydrogenase belongs to the group of molybdenum-containing hydroxylases involved in the oxidative metabolism of purines. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions. Xanthine dehydrogenase can be converted to xanthine oxidase by reversible sulfhydryl oxidation or by irreversible proteolytic modification. Defects in xanthine dehydrogenase cause xanthinuria, may contribute to adult respiratory stress syndrome, and may potentiate influenza infection through an oxygen metabolite-dependent mechanism.
