The antibody against Contactin 2 was raised in Rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 1-100 of human Contactin 2 (Q02246) as the immunogen. The monoclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Target Species
Human
Target Name
CNTN2
Target Full Name
Contactin-2
Target Function
In conjunction with another transmembrane protein, CNTNAP2, contributes to the organization of axonal domains at nodes of Ranvier by maintaining voltage-gated potassium channels at the juxtaparanodal region. May be involved in cell adhesion.
Target Involvement
Epilepsy, familial adult myoclonic, 5 (FAME5)
Target Subcellular Location
Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor. Note=Attached to the neuronal membrane by a GPI-anchor and is also released from neurons.
Target Protein Families
Immunoglobulin superfamily, Contactin family
Target Synonyms
AXT; TAX; TAX1; FAME5; TAG-1; Contactin 2
Target Background
This gene encodes a member of the contactin family of proteins, part of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules. The encoded glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored neuronal membrane protein plays a role in the proliferation, migration, and axon guidance of neurons of the developing cerebellum. A mutation in this gene may be associated with adult myoclonic epilepsy.
