The antibody against MSRA was raised in rabbit using the Recombinant Human Mitochondrial peptide methionine sulfoxide reductase protein (24-235AA) as the immunogen. This antibody exists as a non-conjugated isotype IgG, purified by protein G with a purity greater than 95%. This antibody has been validated on ELISA, IHC.

Target Full Name
Mitochondrial peptide methionine sulfoxide reductase
Target Function
Has an important function as a repair enzyme for proteins that have been inactivated by oxidation. Catalyzes the reversible oxidation-reduction of methionine sulfoxide in proteins to methionine.
Target Subcellular Location
[Isoform 1]: Mitochondrion.; [Isoform 2]: Cytoplasm.; [Isoform 3]: Cytoplasm. Nucleus.; [Isoform 5]: Cytoplasm. Membrane; Lipid-anchor.
Target Protein Families
MsrA Met sulfoxide reductase family
Target Tissue Specificity
Ubiquitous. Highest expression in adult kidney and cerebellum, followed by liver, heart ventricles, bone marrow and hippocampus.
Target Research Area
Metabolism
Target Synonyms
Cytosolic methionine S sulfoxide reductase ; Methionine sulphoxide reductase A; Mitochondrial peptide methionine sulfoxide reductase; MSR A; msrA; MSRA_HUMAN; peptide met (O) reductase; Peptide Met(O) reductase; Peptide methionine (S) S oxide reductase; Peptide-methionine (S)-S-oxide reductase; PMSR; Protein methionine S oxide reductase; Protein-methionine-S-oxide reductase
Target Background
This gene encodes a ubiquitous and highly conserved protein that carries out the enzymatic reduction of methionine sulfoxide to methionine. Human and animal studies have shown the highest levels of expression in kidney and nervous tissue. The protein functions in the repair of oxidatively damaged proteins to restore biological activity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
