The antibody against MRPS27 was raised in rabbit using the Synthesized peptide derived from the N-terminal region of Human MRP-S27. as the immunogen. This antibody exists as a non-conjugated isotype IgG. The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Target Name
MRPS27
Target Full Name
Small ribosomal subunit protein mS27
Target Function
RNA-binding component of the mitochondrial small ribosomal subunit (mt-SSU) that plays a role in mitochondrial protein synthesis. Stimulates mitochondrial mRNA translation of subunit components of the mitochondrial electron transport chain. Binds to the mitochondrial 12S rRNA (12S mt-rRNA) and tRNA(Glu). Involved also in positive regulation of cell proliferation and tumor cell growth.
Target Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Mitochondrion.
Target Protein Families
Mitochondrion-specific ribosomal protein mS27 family
Target Tissue Specificity
Overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues compared with adjacent non-tumoral liver tissues (at protein level). Ubiquitous.
Target Synonyms
28S ribosomal protein S27; 28S ribosomal protein S27, mitochondrial; KIAA0264; Mitochondrial 28S ribosomal protein S27; mitochondrial; mitochondrial ribosomal protein S27; MRP-S27; MRPS27; RT27_HUMAN; S27mt
Target Background
Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein that may be a functional partner of the death associated protein 3 (DAP3). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
