Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    O94826

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    TOMM70

  • Target Full Name

    Mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM70

  • Target Function

Acts as receptor of the preprotein translocase complex of the outer mitochondrial membrane (TOM complex). Recognizes and mediates the translocation of mitochondrial preproteins from the cytosol into the mitochondria in a chaperone dependent manner. Mediates TBK1 and IRF3 activation induced by MAVS in response to Sendai virus infection and promotes host antiviral responses during virus infection. Upon Sendai virus infection, recruits HSP90AA1:IRF3:BAX in mitochondrion and the complex induces apoptosis.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Mitochondrion outer membrane; Single-pass membrane protein.

  • Target Protein Families

    Tom70 family

  • Target Synonyms

TOMM70; KIAA0719; TOM70; TOMM70A; Mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM70; Mitochondrial precursor proteins import receptor; Translocase of outer membrane 70 kDa subunit; Translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane protein 70

  • Target Background

This gene encodes an import receptor of the outer mitochondrial membrane that is part of the translocase of the outer membrane complex. This protein is involved in the import of mitochondrial precursor proteins. The protein interacts with the SARS-CoV and SARS-Cov-2 ORF9b proteins.
