Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9Y3C8

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    UFC1

  • Target Full Name

    Ubiquitin-fold modifier-conjugating enzyme 1

  • Target Function

E1-like enzyme which specifically catalyzes the second step in ufmylation. Accepts the ubiquitin-like modifier UFM1 from the E1 enzyme UBA5 and forms an intermediate with UFM1 via a thioester linkage. Ufmylation is involved in reticulophagy (also called ER-phagy) induced in response to endoplasmic reticulum stress.

  • Target Protein Families

    Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme family, UFC1 subfamily

  • Target Synonyms

    CGI-126; HSPC155; Ubiquitin fold modifier conjugating enzyme 1; Ubiquitin-fold modifier-conjugating enzyme 1; UFC1; UFC1_HUMAN; Ufm1 conjugating enzyme 1; Ufm1-conjugating enzyme 1

  • Target Background

    UFC1 is an E2-like conjugating enzyme for ubiquitin-fold modifier-1 (UFM1; MIM 610553) (Komatsu et al., 2004 [PubMed 15071506]).
