Rabbit anti-Human ALKBH7 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against ALKBH7 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-221 of human ALKBH7 (NP_115682.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Uniprot IDQ9BT30Immunogen Sequence
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9BT30

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ALKBH7

  • Target Full Name

Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 7, mitochondrial

  • Target Function

May function as protein hydroxylase; can catalyze auto-hydroxylation at Leu-110 (in vitro), but this activity may be due to the absence of the true substrate. Required to induce programmed necrosis in response to DNA damage caused by cytotoxic alkylating agents. Acts by triggering the collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential and loss of mitochondrial function that leads to energy depletion and cell death. ALKBH7-mediated necrosis is probably required to prevent the accumulation of cells with DNA damage. Does not display DNA demethylase activity. Involved in fatty acid metabolism.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Mitochondrion matrix.

  • Target Protein Families

    AlkB family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Widely expressed, with highest expression in pancreas, followed by spleen, prostate, ovary and placenta.

  • Target Synonyms

    ALKBH7; ABH7; SPATA11; UNQ6002/PRO34564; Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase alkB homolog 7; mitochondrial; EC 1.14.11.-; Alkylated DNA repair protein alkB homolog 7; Spermatogenesis cell proliferation-related protein; Spermatogenesis-associated protein 11

  • Target Background

Predicted to enable dioxygenase activity and metal ion binding activity. Involved in cellular response to DNA damage stimulus and regulation of mitochondrial membrane permeability involved in programmed necrotic cell death. Located in mitochondrial matrix.
