Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9NP73

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ALG13

  • Target Full Name

    UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transferase subunit ALG13

  • Target Function

Possible multifunctional enzyme with both glycosyltransferase and deubiquitinase activities.; May be involved in protein N-glycosylation, second step of the dolichol-linked oligosaccharide pathway.

  • Target Involvement

Epileptic encephalopathy, early infantile, 36 (EIEE36)

  • Target Subcellular Location

[Isoform 2]: Endoplasmic reticulum. Note=Could be recruited to the cytosolic face of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane through its interaction with ALG14.

  • Target Protein Families

    Glycosyltransferase 28 family

  • Target Synonyms

    ALG13; ALG13, S. cerevisiae, homolog of; ALG13, UDP-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase subunit; ALG13_HUMAN; Asparagine linked glycosylation 13 homolog (S. cerevisiae); Asparagine-linked glycosylation 13 homolog; Asparagine-linked glycosylation 13, S. cerevisiae, homolog of; CDG1S; CXorf45; FLJ23018; FLJ31785; GLT28D1; Glycosyltransferase 28 domain containing protein 1 ; Glycosyltransferase 28 domain-containing 1; Glycosyltransferase 28 domain-containing protein 1; Hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells protein MDS031; MDS031; MGC12423; N-acetylglucosaminyldiphosphodolichol N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase; OTTHUMP00000062812; OTTHUMP00000176862; TDRD13; tudor domain containing 13; UDP N acetylglucosamine transferase subunit ALG13 homolog; UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transferase subunit ALG13 homolog; YGL047W

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of a bipartite UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transferase. It heterodimerizes with asparagine-linked glycosylation 14 homolog to form a functional UDP-GlcNAc glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the second sugar addition of the highly conserved oligosaccharide precursor in endoplasmic reticulum N-linked glycosylation. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
