Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P27216

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ANXA13

  • Target Full Name

    Annexin A13

  • Target Function

Binds to membranes enriched in phosphatidylserine or phosphatidylglycerol in a calcium-dependent manner. Half-maximal membrane binding requires about 60 uM calcium. Does not bind to membranes that lack phospholipids with an acidic headgroup.; Binds to membranes enriched in phosphatidylserine or phosphatidylglycerol in a calcium-dependent manner, but requires higher calcium levels for membrane binding than isoform A. Half-maximal membrane binding requires about 320 uM calcium.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Apical cell membrane. Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor. Cytoplasmic vesicle.

  • Target Protein Families

    Annexin family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Detected in epithelial cells in colon and jejunum (at protein level). Detected in epithelial cells in jejunum.

  • Target Synonyms

    Annexin A13; Annexin XIII; Annexin; intestine-specific; Annexin-13; ANX 13; ANX A13; ANX13; ANX13_HUMAN; ANXA13; Intestine Specific Annexin; Intestine-specific annexin; ISA; MGC150460

  • Target Background

This gene encodes a member of the annexin family. Members of this calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein family play a role in the regulation of cellular growth and in signal transduction pathways. The specific function of this gene has not yet been determined; however, it is associated with the plasma membrane of undifferentiated, proliferating endothelial cells and differentiated villus enterocytes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
