Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q8WVH0

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    CPLX3

  • Target Full Name

    Complexin-3

  • Target Function

Complexin that regulates SNARE protein complex-mediated synaptic vesicle fusion. Required for the maintenance of synaptic ultrastructure in the adult retina. Positively regulates synaptic transmission through synaptic vesicle availability and exocytosis of neurotransmitters at photoreceptor ribbon synapses in the retina. Suppresses tonic photoreceptor activity and baseline 'noise' by suppression of Ca(2+) vesicle tonic release and the facilitation of evoked synchronous and asynchronous Ca(2+) vesicle release.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Cell junction, synapse. Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor.

  • Target Protein Families

    Complexin/synaphin family

  • Target Synonyms

CPLX3; Nbla11589Complexin-3; Complexin III; CPX III

  • Target Background

Predicted to enable SNARE binding activity. Predicted to be involved in regulation of neurotransmitter secretion and synaptic vesicle exocytosis. Predicted to be located in plasma membrane and synapse. Predicted to be part of SNARE complex. Predicted to be active in photoreceptor ribbon synapse and terminal bouton. Predicted to be anchored component of presynaptic active zone membrane and anchored component of synaptic vesicle membrane.
