Immunogen SequenceComplete sequences for the immunogen, target protein, and peptides are available upon request.Uniprot IDP26232
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P26232

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    CTNNA2

  • Target Full Name

    Catenin alpha-2

  • Target Function

May function as a linker between cadherin adhesion receptors and the cytoskeleton to regulate cell-cell adhesion and differentiation in the nervous system. Required for proper regulation of cortical neuronal migration and neurite growth. It acts as negative regulator of Arp2/3 complex activity and Arp2/3-mediated actin polymerization. It thereby suppresses excessive actin branching which would impair neurite growth and stability. Regulates morphological plasticity of synapses and cerebellar and hippocampal lamination during development. Functions in the control of startle modulation.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Cytoplasm. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Cell junction, adherens junction. Cell projection, axon. Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

    Vinculin/alpha-catenin family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Expressed in neural tissues, with strongest expression in fetal and adult brain. Expressed in the developing cortical plate and marginal zone of 20-week-old human fetal brain.

  • Target Synonyms

Alpha catenin related protein; Alpha N catenin; Alpha N-catenin; Alpha-catenin-related protein; Cadherin associated protein related; Cancer/testis antigen 114; CAP R; CAPR; Catenin (cadherin associated protein) alpha 2; Catenin alpha 2; Catenin alpha-2; CT114; CTNA2_HUMAN; CTNN A2; CTNNA 2; CTNNA2; CTNR; DKFZp686H02198

  • Target Background

Enables actin filament binding activity. Involved in negative regulation of Arp2/3 complex-mediated actin nucleation; regulation of neuron migration; and regulation of neuron projection development. Located in cytoplasm. Implicated in complex cortical dysplasia with other brain malformations.
