Rabbit anti-Human DCXR Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against DCXR was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-244 of human DCXR (NP_057370.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Immunogen Information

Immunogen DescriptionRecombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-244 of human DCXR (NP_057370.1).Target SpeciesHuman
Uniprot IDQ7Z4W1Immunogen Sequence
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q7Z4W1

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    DCXR

  • Target Full Name

    L-xylulose reductase

  • Target Function

Catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of several pentoses, tetroses, trioses, alpha-dicarbonyl compounds and L-xylulose. Participates in the uronate cycle of glucose metabolism. May play a role in the water absorption and cellular osmoregulation in the proximal renal tubules by producing xylitol, an osmolyte, thereby preventing osmolytic stress from occurring in the renal tubules.

  • Target Involvement

    Pentosuria (PNTSU)

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Membrane; Peripheral membrane protein.

  • Target Protein Families

    Short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Highly expressed in kidney, liver and epididymis. In the epididymis, it is mainly expressed in the proximal and distal sections of the corpus region. Weakly or not expressed in brain, lung, heart, spleen and testis.

  • Target Research Area

    Signal Transduction

  • Target Synonyms

Carbonyl reductase 2; Carbonyl reductase II; DCR; Dcxr; DCXR_HUMAN; Dicarbonyl and L xylulose reductase; Dicarbonyl L xylulose reductase; Dicarbonyl/ L xylulose reductase; Dicarbonyl/L-xylulose reductase; HCR2; HCRII; Human carbonyl reductase 2; kiDCR; Kidney dicarbonyl reductase; L xylulose reductase; L-xylulose reductase; P34H; PNTSU; SDR20C1; Short chain dehydrogenase/reductase family 20C member 1; Sperm surface protein P34H; XR

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this gene acts as a homotetramer to catalyze diacetyl reductase and L-xylulose reductase reactions. The encoded protein may play a role in the uronate cycle of glucose metabolism and in the cellular osmoregulation in the proximal renal tubules. Defects in this gene are a cause of pentosuria. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
