Rabbit anti-Human HTR1B Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against HTR1B was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-390 of human HTR1B (P28222) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Immunogen Information

Immunogen DescriptionRecombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-390 of human HTR1B (P28222).Target SpeciesHuman
Uniprot IDP28222Immunogen Sequence
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P28222

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    HTR1B

  • Target Full Name

    5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1B

  • Target Function

G-protein coupled receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin). Also functions as a receptor for ergot alkaloid derivatives, various anxiolytic and antidepressant drugs and other psychoactive substances, such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Ligand binding causes a conformation change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates the activity of down-stream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase. Signaling inhibits adenylate cyclase activity. Arrestin family members inhibit signaling via G proteins and mediate activation of alternative signaling pathways. Regulates the release of 5-hydroxytryptamine, dopamine and acetylcholine in the brain, and thereby affects neural activity, nociceptive processing, pain perception, mood and behavior. Besides, plays a role in vasoconstriction of cerebral arteries.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

  • Target Protein Families

    G-protein coupled receptor 1 family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Detected in cerebral artery smooth muscle cells (at protein level). Detected in brain cortex, striatum, amygdala, medulla, hippocampus, caudate nucleus and putamen.

  • Target Research Area

    Neuroscience

  • Target Synonyms

    HTR1B; HTR1DB; 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1B; 5-HT-1B; 5-HT1B; S12; Serotonin 1D beta receptor; 5-HT-1D-beta; Serotonin receptor 1B

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this intronless gene is a G-protein coupled receptor for serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine). Ligand binding activates second messengers that inhibit the activity of adenylate cyclase and manage the release of serotonin, dopamine, and acetylcholine in the brain. The encoded protein may be involved in several neuropsychiatric disorders and therefore is often a target of antidepressant and other psychotherapeutic drugs.
