Rabbit anti-Human IPO4 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against IPO4 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 728-1081 of human IPO4 (NP_078934.3) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q8TEX9

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    IPO4

  • Target Full Name

    Importin-4

  • Target Function

Functions in nuclear protein import as nuclear transport receptor. Serves as receptor for nuclear localization signals (NLS) in cargo substrates. Is thought to mediate docking of the importin/substrate complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) through binding to nucleoporin and the complex is subsequently translocated through the pore by an energy requiring, Ran-dependent mechanism. At the nucleoplasmic side of the NPC, Ran binds to the importin, the importin/substrate complex dissociates and importin is re-exported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm where GTP hydrolysis releases Ran. The directionality of nuclear import is thought to be conferred by an asymmetric distribution of the GTP- and GDP-bound forms of Ran between the cytoplasm and nucleus. Mediates the nuclear import of RPS3A. In vitro, mediates the nuclear import of human cytomegalovirus UL84 by recognizing a non-classical NLS.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm. Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

    Importin beta family

  • Target Synonyms

    Imp4; Imp4b; Importin 4; Importin 4b; Importin-4; Importin-4b; Ipo4; IPO4_HUMAN; Ran binding protein 4; Ran-binding protein 4; RanBP4

  • Target Background

Predicted to enable nuclear import signal receptor activity and nuclear localization sequence binding activity. Involved in DNA replication-dependent chromatin assembly; DNA replication-independent chromatin assembly; and protein import into nucleus. Located in chromatin. Part of protein-containing complex.
