Rabbit anti-Human Lysozyme (LYZ) Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against Lysozyme (LYZ) was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 19-148 of human Lysozyme (Lysozyme (LYZ)) (NP_000230.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    LYZ

  • Target Full Name

    Lysozyme C

  • Target Function

Lysozymes have primarily a bacteriolytic function; those in tissues and body fluids are associated with the monocyte-macrophage system and enhance the activity of immunoagents.

  • Target Involvement

    Amyloidosis 8 (AMYL8)

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Secreted.

  • Target Protein Families

    Glycosyl hydrolase 22 family

  • Target Research Area

  • Target Background

This gene encodes human lysozyme, whose natural substrate is the bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan (cleaving the beta[1-4]glycosidic linkages between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine). Lysozyme is one of the antimicrobial agents found in human milk, and is also present in spleen, lung, kidney, white blood cells, plasma, saliva, and tears. The protein has antibacterial activity against a number of bacterial species. Missense mutations in this gene have been identified in heritable renal amyloidosis.
