Rabbit anti-Human MAP1B Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against MAP1B was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1820-2100 of human MAP1B (NP_005900.2) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IF/ICC, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P46821

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    MAP1B

  • Target Full Name

    Microtubule-associated protein 1B

  • Target Function

Facilitates tyrosination of alpha-tubulin in neuronal microtubules. Phosphorylated MAP1B may play a role in the cytoskeletal changes that accompany neurite extension. Possibly MAP1B binds to at least two tubulin subunits in the polymer, and this bridging of subunits might be involved in nucleating microtubule polymerization and in stabilizing microtubules. Acts as a positive cofactor in DAPK1-mediated autophagic vesicle formation and membrane blebbing.

  • Target Background

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis. The product of this gene is a precursor polypeptide that presumably undergoes proteolytic processing to generate the final MAP1B heavy chain and LC1 light chain. Gene knockout studies of the mouse microtubule-associated protein 1B gene suggested an important role in development and function of the nervous system.
