Rabbit anti-Human OAS3 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against OAS3 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 320-620 of human OAS3 (NP_006178.2) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, IHC-P, IF/ICC, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9Y6K5

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    OAS3

  • Target Full Name

    2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthase 3

  • Target Function

Interferon-induced, dsRNA-activated antiviral enzyme which plays a critical role in cellular innate antiviral response. In addition, it may also play a role in other cellular processes such as apoptosis, cell growth, differentiation and gene regulation. Synthesizes preferentially dimers of 2'-5'-oligoadenylates (2-5A) from ATP which then bind to the inactive monomeric form of ribonuclease L (RNase L) leading to its dimerization and subsequent activation. Activation of RNase L leads to degradation of cellular as well as viral RNA, resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis, thus terminating viral replication. Can mediate the antiviral effect via the classical RNase L-dependent pathway or an alternative antiviral pathway independent of RNase L. Displays antiviral activity against Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), Dengue virus, Sindbis virus (SINV) and Semliki forest virus (SFV).

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm. Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

    2-5A synthase family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Present at high level in placenta trophoblast.

  • Target Synonyms

    (2-5'')oligo(A) synthase 3; 2 5' oligo(A) synthetase 3; 2 5'LIGO; 2 5A synthetase 3; 2''-5''-oligoadenylate synthase 3; 2-5A synthase 3; MGC133260 ; OAS3 2' 5' oligoadenylate synthetase 3, 100kDa ; OAS3; OAS3_HUMAN; p100; p100 OAS; p100OAS

  • Target Background

This gene encodes an enzyme included in the 2', 5' oligoadenylate synthase family. This enzyme is induced by interferons and catalyzes the 2', 5' oligomers of adenosine in order to bind and activate RNase L. This enzyme family plays a significant role in the inhibition of cellular protein synthesis and viral infection resistance.
