Rabbit anti-Human ST8SIA1 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against ST8SIA1 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 49-270 of human ST8SIA1 (NP_003025.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q92185

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ST8SIA1

  • Target Full Name

    Alpha-N-acetylneuraminide alpha-2,8-sialyltransferase

  • Target Function

Catalyzes the addition of sialic acid in alpha 2,8-linkage to the sialic acid moiety of the ganglioside GM3 to form ganglioside GD3; gangliosides are a subfamily of complex glycosphinglolipds that contain one or more residues of sialic acid. Can catalyze the addition of a second alpha-2,8-sialic acid to GD3 to form GT3. Can use GM1b, GD1a and GT1b as acceptor substrates to synthesize GD1c, GT1a and GQ1b respectively. Can synthesize unusual tetra- and pentasialylated lactosylceramide derivatives identified as GQ3 (II3Neu5Ac4-Gg2Cer) and GP3 (II3Neu5Ac5-Gg2Cer) in breast cancer cells.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Golgi apparatus membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.

  • Target Protein Families

    Glycosyltransferase 29 family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Strongly expressed in melanoma cell lines, adult and fetal brain and to a lesser extent in adult and fetal lung.

  • Target Synonyms

    8-sialyltransferase 8A; 8-sialyltransferase; Alpha 2,8 sialyltransferase 8A; Alpha N acetylneuraminide alpha 2,8 sialyltransferase; Alpha-2; Alpha-N-acetylneuraminide alpha-2; Disialoganglioside (GD3) synthase; Ganglioside GD3 synthase; Ganglioside GT3 synthase; Ganglioside specific alpha 2,8 polysialyltransferase; GD3S; SIA8A_HUMAN; Sialyltransferase 8 (alpha N acetylneuraminate: alpha 2,8 sialytransferase, GD3 synthase) A; Sialyltransferase 8A (alpha N acetylneuraminate: alpha 2,8 sialyltransferase, GD3 synthase); Sialyltransferase 8A; Sialytransferase St8Sia I; SIAT8; SIAT8-A; SIAT8A; ST8 alpha N acetyl neuraminide alpha 2,8 sialyltransferase 1; ST8 alpha N acetyl neuraminide alpha 28 sialyltransferase 1; ST8Sia I; ST8SIA1; ST8SiaI
