Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9BVW5

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    TIPIN

  • Target Full Name

    TIMELESS-interacting protein

  • Target Function

Plays an important role in the control of DNA replication and the maintenance of replication fork stability. Important for cell survival after DNA damage or replication stress. May be specifically required for the ATR-CHEK1 pathway in the replication checkpoint induced by hydroxyurea or ultraviolet light. Forms a complex with TIMELESS and this complex regulates DNA replication processes under both normal and stress conditions, stabilizes replication forks and influences both CHEK1 phosphorylation and the intra-S phase checkpoint in response to genotoxic stress.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm. Nucleus.

  • Target Protein Families

    CSM3 family

  • Target Synonyms

FLJ20516; TIMELESS interacting protein; TIMELESS-interacting protein; TIPIN; TIPIN_HUMAN

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this gene is part of the replisome complex, a group of proteins that support DNA replication. It binds TIM, which is involved in circadian rhythm regulation, and aids in protecting cells against DNA damage and stress. Two pseudogenes and two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
