Rabbit anti-Human TMPRSS4 Polyclonal Antibody

The antibody against TMPRSS4 was raised in Rabbit using the recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 70-270 of human TMPRSS4 (NP_063947.1) as the immunogen. The polyclonal antibody exists as a isotype IgG, by affinity purification. This antibody has been validated on WB, ELISA.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    Q9NRS4

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    TMPRSS4

  • Target Full Name

    Transmembrane protease serine 4

  • Target Function

Plasma membrane-anchored serine protease that directly induces processing of pro-uPA/PLAU into the active form through proteolytic activity. Seems to be capable of activating ENaC.; (Microbial infection) In gut epithelial cells, facilitates human coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 infection through, at least, the cleavage of coronavirus spike glycoproteins which activates the glycoprotein for host cell entry.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Cell membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.; [Transmembrane protease serine 4 catalytic chain]: Secreted.

  • Target Protein Families

    Peptidase S1 family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

High levels in pancreatic, gastric, colorectal and ampullary cancer. Very weak expression in normal gastrointestinal and urogenital tract. Coexpressed with ACE2 within mature enterocytes.

  • Target Research Area

    Others

  • Target Synonyms

    UNQ776/PRO1570; CAPH2; Channel-activating protease 2; Membrane type serine protease 2; Membrane-type serine protease 2; MT SP2; MT-SP2; TMPRSS 4; TMPRSS3; TMPRSS4; TMPS4_HUMAN; Transmembrane protease serine 4; Transmembrane protease, serine 4; Transmembrane serine protease 3

  • Target Background

This gene encodes a member of the serine protease family. Serine proteases are known to be involved in a variety of biological processes, whose malfunction often leads to human diseases and disorders. This gene was identified as a gene overexpressed in pancreatic carcinoma. The encoded protein is membrane bound with a N-terminal anchor sequence and a glycosylated extracellular region containing the serine protease domain. The protein has been found to promote SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells.
