Recombinant Human Acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha (CHRNA1), Truncated

The cDNA sequence encoding the extracellular domain (21-255AA) of human acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha (CHRNA1) was fused with an N-terminal 6xHis-Trx-tag and then expressed in E.coli. The product, recombinant fusion protein, was measured the purity of over 90% using SDS-PAGE. The gel showed an about 75-85 kDa molecular mass band of this protein under reducing conditions. This recombinant CHRNA1 protein may be used in the specific antibody synthesis or the studies of the neuroscience research area. In-stock recombinant CHRNA1 protein is offered now.

Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P02708

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    CHRNA1

  • Target Full Name

    Acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha

  • Target Function

After binding acetylcholine, the AChR responds by an extensive change in conformation that affects all subunits and leads to opening of an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane.

  • Target Involvement

Multiple pterygium syndrome, lethal type (LMPS); Myasthenic syndrome, congenital, 1A, slow-channel (CMS1A); Myasthenic syndrome, congenital, 1B, fast-channel (CMS1B)

  • Target Subcellular Location

Cell junction, synapse, postsynaptic cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

  • Target Protein Families

Ligand-gated ion channel (TC 1.A.9) family, Acetylcholine receptor (TC 1.A.9.1) subfamily, Alpha-1/CHRNA1 sub-subfamily

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Isoform 1 is only expressed in skeletal muscle. Isoform 2 is constitutively expressed in skeletal muscle, brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung and thymus.

  • Target Research Area

    Neuroscience, Transport

  • Target Synonyms

Acetylcholine receptor subunit alpha; ACHA_HUMAN; AChR; ACHRA; ACHRD; CHNRA; Cholinergic receptor nicotinic alpha 1 subunit; Cholinergic receptor nicotinic alpha polypeptide 1; Cholinergic receptor; nicotinic; alpha polypeptide 1 (muscle); Chrna1; CMS1A; CMS1B; CMS2A; FCCMS; Nicotinic cholinergic receptor alpha 1; SCCMS; Schizophrenia neurophysiologic defect candidate

  • Target Background

The muscle acetylcholine receptor consiststs of 5 subunits of 4 different types: 2 alpha subunits and 1 each of the beta, gamma, and delta subunits. This gene encodes an alpha subunit that plays a role in acetlycholine binding/channel gating. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
