    P36575

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    ARR3

  • Target Full Name

    Arrestin-C

  • Target Function

May play a role in an as yet undefined retina-specific signal transduction. Could bind to photoactivated-phosphorylated red/green opsins.

  • Target Subcellular Location

Photoreceptor inner segment. Cell projection, cilium, photoreceptor outer segment.

  • Target Protein Families

    Arrestin family

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Inner and outer segments, and the inner plexiform regions of the retina.

  • Target Synonyms

    ARR3; ARR4; ARRC_HUMAN; Arrestin 3 retinal; Arrestin 3 retinal (X-arrestin); Arrestin 4; Arrestin-C; ARRX; C arrestin; C-arrestin; CAR; cArr; Cone arrestin; Retinal cone arrestin 3; Retinal cone arrestin-3; X arrestin; X-arrestin

  • Target Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a non-visual arrestin which binds to agonist-activated, phosphorylated G protein-coupled receptors. This binding uncouples the receptor from the heterotrimeric G protein, resulting in termination of the G protein-coupled receptor signaling. The encoded protein also is a part of the centrosome, interacting with gamma-tubulin to help regulate proper centrosome function.
