Immunogen Information

Target SpeciesHumanUniprot IDP30043
Background Information
  • Uniprot Id

    P30043

  • Target Species

    Human

  • Target Name

    BLVRB

  • Target Full Name

    Flavin reductase (NADPH)

  • Target Function

Broad specificity oxidoreductase that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of a variety of flavins, such as riboflavin, FAD or FMN, biliverdins, methemoglobin and PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone). Contributes to heme catabolism and metabolizes linear tetrapyrroles. Can also reduce the complexed Fe(3+) iron to Fe(2+) in the presence of FMN and NADPH. In the liver, converts biliverdin to bilirubin.

  • Target Subcellular Location

    Cytoplasm.

  • Target Tissue Specificity

Predominantly expressed in liver and erythrocytes. At lower levels in heart, lung, adrenal gland and cerebrum.

  • Target Synonyms

Biliverdin IX beta reductase; biliverdin reductase B (flavin reductase (NADPH)); Biliverdin reductase B; Biliverdin-IX beta-reductase; BLVRB; BLVRB_HUMAN; BVR B; BVR-B; BVRB; epididymis secretory protein Li 10; Flavin reductase (NADPH); Flavin reductase; FLR; FR; GHBP; Green heme binding protein; Green heme-binding protein; HEL-S-10; Methemoglobin reductase; MGC117413; NADPH dependent diaphorase; NADPH flavin reductase; NADPH-dependent diaphorase; NADPH-flavin reductase; SDR43U1; short chain dehydrogenase/reductase family 43U; member 1

  • Target Background

Enables biliverdin reductase (NAD(P)+) activity and riboflavin reductase (NADPH) activity. Involved in heme catabolic process. Located in cytosol; nucleoplasm; and plasma membrane.
